Cam Hazzard

Cam Hazzard is a 20-year-old professional dunker from the Dallas area and one of 24 athletes hand-picked by Shaq for the DunkMan League. He grew up watching Dunkademics videos with his cousin without believing any of it: his cousin told him the dunks were CGI, and Cam took that at face value for years. He assumed he would play college basketball. Instead he got his first dunk in November 2021, at 15, at his local rec center, with his phone propped on a ball.

His first windmill came during the 2022 AAU season. Two weeks later a sweat patch on the floor sent his legs into the splits during warmups and he tore both hamstrings at once, pulling bone off the attachment. The fragment was too small to operate on, so he waited a year for his body to absorb it. He returned in 2023 six inches taller with his dunks back within weeks, but his coach had moved him to post and college ball was gone. Watching Dunk Camp 2023 in Dallas from the stands was the turn.

He never measured his vertical until he tested 47, and a Road to 50 Inch Vertical series became his most watched content on the way to a 49 in Austin. Then in January 2026 he caught someone’s heel mid-air in an intramural game and shattered his hand: surgery, permanent plates and screws, two and a half months of nothing. A week after the operation, hand strapped to his chest, he got the DunkMan offer from Chuck. Two and a half weeks after being cleared to jump, he tested 50 inches on a Wednesday he had written into his calendar, after 8 a.m. classes and a shift that ran until five.

Cam is self-coached, which few people jumping his numbers can say. His friend Reece Boltin fixed his lifting form, the back pain went away, and he now squats 385 deep and power cleans 275. He takes one max jump day a week of three to four hours and stays under six hours in the gym otherwise. At 6’2″ with a 7’11” standing reach he lives off the dribble and in 360s, and his signature 360 Inverter is one he can hit five minutes into a warmup.

He studied Isaiah Rivera‘s jump technique in eighth grade and never had to relearn it, calls Jordan Kilganon the GOAT of ultra-elite dunks, and names Donovan Hawkins his favorite to watch. Donovan is also why he started posting: Cam sent him clips and got a reply saying he jumped way too high not to have an Instagram. He has since filmed at Dunkademics in Los Angeles with Billy Doran, and met Dylan Haugen and Dennis Yu at a rented Dallas gym where he hit a 360 Under Both, a 360 Scoop and a 360 Inverter.

Off the floor he is an honors student and a triple major in information systems, accounting and finance, plays trumpet in his college band for scholarship money, and stacks internships around his training. He works with Dylan and Dennis Yu on marketing and AI, which is how a hockey player with the same name stopped outranking him on Google. DunkMan, with $500,000 on the line, will be his first real contest; the London events he did while studying at Oxford were shows. His plan is to be so good that he cannot be ignored.
